About Visit 29 Palms TBID
Established in 2017, Visit 29 Palms is the City of Twentynine Palms' Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID), operating under the Parking and Business Improvement Area Law of 1989. The TBID works to increase awareness, interest, and positioning of Twentynine Palms as a premier travel destination and drive overnight room demand for local lodging businesses.
Formed through a public-private partnership between the City of Twentynine Palms and its lodging owners and operators, Visit 29 Palms is funded entirely by a self-assessed 1.5% tourism assessment collected at lodging properties throughout the district and promotes Twentynine Palms as a travel destination through advertising, public relations, content development, partnerships, visitor services, and tourism-related event support. The Visit 29 Palms TBID district is defined by the 58-square-mile boundary of the incorporated City of Twentynine Palms and includes all lodging properties within it, including hotels, motels, RV resorts, and short-term vacation rentals.
Visit 29 Palms is guided by a five-member Advisory Board appointed by the City Council and comprised of representatives from lodging businesses within the district. The Advisory Board oversees the development and execution of an annual tourism marketing plan and budget and provides strategic direction and oversight of staff. Under the 1989 Law, the Visit 29 Palms TBID renews annually and operates on the federal fiscal year of October 1 through September 30.
