  • Sunset at Mojave Desert in Twentynine Palms, CA

New at the 29 Palms Art Gallery is a must-see Power in the Desert exhibition, featuring a beautifully curated showcase of the work of leading local artists, Chuck Caplinger and Ed Keesling. This exhibition opens on March 31 and will run through to April 30.

The opening reception for Power in the Desert will take place on Saturday, April 1, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and guests will enjoy live music, hors d’oeuvres and wine, and local hospitality.

Located since 1963 at the Oasis of Mara, next to the Joshua Tree National Park Headquarters, the Gallery is owned and operated by the Twentynine Palms Artists’ Guild, an all volunteer, non-profit organization founded in 1951-52. In 1963, the Guild purchased the adobe gallery which was originally built in 1936 as a desert home for Western pulp fiction author, Tom Hopkins. Today, the Gallery features monthly art exhibitions, adult and youth art education,  juried exhibitions, artist receptions, and seasonal fund-raising events. Our Gift Shop offers fine Southwestern jewelry, gift items, and other art objects. When visiting Joshua Tree National Park, stop in to see the current exhibition of featured artists and artist guild members.

Joshua Tree National Park Association is pleased to announce their first annual Bighorn Benefit Dinner and Auction to benefit the Joshua Tree National Park Desert bighorn sheep monitoring program!

The money raised from this event will allow Joshua Tree National Park researchers to coordinate surveys on bighorn sheep and purchase the necessary equipment needed to survey their populations. Helicopter time to ground searching, these funds will help in ensuring these critical habitats in the park are protected from disturbance. The results may provide telling information about how we can help support and protect bighorn populations across the Mojave Desert.

Additionally, the research project evaluates how desert bighorn sheep interact with human-made barriers, will identify ways to improve movement across those barriers, and assess sites for evidence of bighorn sheep recolonization around Joshua Tree National Park, Mojave National Preserve, and Death Valley National Park.

The Bighorn Benefit Dinner and Auction will take place at Paradise Heights, a rustic setting tucked between the hills of Joshua Tree and Palm Springs, located in Morongo Valley, CA on the evening of May 6th, 2023, from 5-8 pm. A BBQ dinner, drinks, live auction hosted by Z107.7 radio personality Gary Daigneault, and special guest speakers from Joshua Tree National Park will all take place during this memorable evening.

Tickets will become available on April 1st, 2023, via Eventbrite. Please reach out to JTNPA’s Development Manager with any questions at chris@joshuatree.org and follow JTNPA on Facebook and Instagram to receive event updates and information.
