Juneteenth Celebration
In honor of Juneteenth, the Women of Color Global 29 are hosting a free community event at Knott’s Sky Park in 29 Palms to commemorate African American freedom.
Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Considered the longest-running- African American holiday, Juneteenth recognizes June 19, 1865, as the date of the news of slavery’s end reached enslaved people in Texas and other states in the southwest.
Join the community at Knott’s Sky Park on Saturday, June 17 for a full day of free family fun, with music, food, and games! This event starts at 12:00 p.m. and runs until 8:00 p.m. All are welcome!
The Juneteenth celebration will tentatively include: a talent showcase, food vendors, poetry reading, and much more!
