Gubler Orchids

Today Gubler Orchids has over 130,000 square feet of greenhouses in production. By January 2008 another 20,000 sq. ft. is scheduled to be fully operational. Orchids are now shipped primarily in the United States and Canada. A complete line of orchids products has been developed that is consistent with the materials used to produce Gubler Quality Orchids. Their tissue culture laboratory only produces new hybrids.

The carnivorous plant section is another rapidly growing segment, with 90% of our carnivorous plants propagated tissue cultured. As with the continued growth of Gubler Orchids, the quality and selection of orchids continues to grow, greatly exceeding anything in the company's history.

Gubler Orchids has developed a reputation as one of the top quality orchid growers in the world.

Integratron

George Van Tassel, creator of the Integratron, was a legendary figure, an aeronautical engineer and test pilot who worked for Lockheed, Douglas Aircraft and alongside Howard Hughes at Hughes Aviation . He was also one of the leaders in the UFO movement who held annual "Spacecraft Conventions" at Giant Rock for 25 years.  Van Tassel said UFO channelings and ideas from scientists such as Nikola Tesla led to the unique architecture of the Integratron. He spent 18 years constructing the building.

Joshua Tree National Park

Joshua Tree National Park, headquartered in Twentynine Palms between I-10 and Hwy 62 has a rich cultural history, surreal geologic features and a fascinating variety of plants and animals. World class climbing, historical mines, and Keys Ranch are just a few of the highlights the park offers.

Marine Corps Ground Air Combat Center

Since the 1950s, the Combat Center has grown from a few buildings, a glider runway and about 120 Marines to the large complex you see today, with more than 19,000 Marines, sailors, family members and civilian workers. It is currently the largest and fastest-growing base in the Marine Corps.

Murals of 29 Palms

Visit our outdoor art gallery! The Oasis of Murals is probably the best thing to happen to this desert community in many a decade. Kick-starting the "renaissance" of our small town in 1994, the Mural Project, sponsored by Action Council for 29 Palms, Inc., has spawned more than just beautiful, historical artworks painted on the commercial buildings downtown--it has also encouraged a whole new art scene and created a rebirth of local shops, galleries, and visitor-friendly businesses.

Oasis of Mara & National Park Headquarters

In deserts the presence of water, that rarest of desert commodities, allows life to flourish and provides an oasis for natural and human activity. The Oasis of Mara is a cornerstone of the Joshua Tree National Park story.

Old Schoolhouse Museum

The Old Schoolhouse Museum has displays and artifacts representing the different eras of the area, including Native Americans, mining, cattle, and homesteading. Headquartered within the oldest public building in the entire Morongo Basin, the Society acquired the old 29 Palms Schoolhouse in 1990, then moved it two miles from its original location to the Society's 4-acre site on National Park Drive in the shadow of the community's historic Oasis of Mara.

Smith Ranch Drive In Movie Theatre

Bill Smith, who arrived in 1923 in his Model-T Ford, developed the haven known as Smith's Ranch. Bill and his brother, Harry, drilled a well and provided water to early homesteaders, and Bill's shower, swimming pool, and shade trees were a welcome place to cool off on hot summer days. Bill married Thelma Mead in 1930, and the ambitious pioneer couple built an ice house, a dairy, an ice cream parlor, an outdoor theater, a recreational hall, and a trailer park on their property. They had six children and were acclaimed as the first homesteaders to have children born in Twentynine Palms.

The Smith's Ranch Drive-In opened in 1954. This drive-in is still open and has a capacity for 330 cars. Call for movie times at 760-367-7713.
